JA Moody Announces Partnership with Specialty & Ball Valve Engineering (SBVE)
JA Moody is proud to announce a new partnership with Specialty & Ball Valve Engineering (SBVE), a California-based manufacturer whose Dynaflow™ high-pressure ball valves have supported critical U.S. Navy fluid systems for more than sixty years.
Originally qualified to MIL-V-22687, SBVE’s Dynaflow valves first entered service aboard the USS Dolphin, the Navy’s historic deep-dive submarine now preserved in San Diego Harbor. These valves were certified for the Dolphin’s 5,000 psi Emergency Ballast Blow System, exceeding the Navy’s standard 4,500 psi rating, and later adapted by NASA for applications reaching 6,000 psi.
Today, SBVE valves remain integral to surface combatants and submersibles alike. Each unit features a one-piece body with components loaded through the bonnet, a single-seat design that prevents trapped volume and allows complete purging for fuel systems, and a trunnion-mounted ball architecture that reduces operating torque, enabling smaller, lighter actuators and enhanced reliability under extreme conditions.

Honored to Host Congresswoman Jen Kiggans at Our Chesapeake Facility!
On October 20th, Representative Jen Kiggans (VA-02) and her staff visited JA Moody & Moody Marine Service in Chesapeake, VA.
Nick Dimm and Chris Ragland of Moody Marine Service, together with David Finn of JA Moody, welcomed the congresswoman for a facility tour and product demonstration featuring Curtiss-Wright Nu-Torque hydraulically and Lexair Navy valves, along with electrically operated Vanessa Triple Offsets.
The visit highlighted Moody Marine Service’s critical role in supporting U.S. Navy ship repair yards in Hampton Roads. Through precision overhaul and repair of fluid process valves, we’ve been able to reduce lead times from 50 weeks to as little as two weeks, ensuring faster fleet readiness and operational reliability.

Visiting the Emerson Vanessa Factory in Italy
Our CEO, Lisa Smith, recently had the opportunity to visit the Emerson Vanessa factory in Italy, meet with their talented engineering team, and tour their impressive 138,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility.
