Lexair: Raising the Bar in U.S. Navy Support and Manufacturing Excellence
The JA Moody team had the pleasure of spending two full days last week at Lexair Inc., a third-generation, family-owned company that is quickly becoming a benchmark for excellence in military manufacturing. Since acquiring the product line from Emerson just two years ago, Lexair has made significant strides—rebranding the legacy Navy valve products, formerly known as K-Loks, as the Lexair Navy Valve (LNV) line, while continuing to manufacture them to the same form, fit, and function using newly established patterns. In doing so, Lexair is setting new standards for performance, reliability, and supply chain responsiveness.
Lexair’s commitment to supporting the U.S. Navy is more than just talk—they’re making bold, strategic investments that directly impact product availability, quality, and throughput. We saw this firsthand in their Lexington, Kentucky facility and left with a deep appreciation for the direction this company is headed.

Here are just a few of the major initiatives Lexair has undertaken to better serve the Navy and its mission-critical operations:
- Boosting Inventory of Long Lead-Time Components: Lexair is proactively increasing stock levels of critical, long-lead-time parts. This strategy is already reducing production delays and will significantly improve lead times across the board.
- Engineering for Weight Reduction: Recognizing the importance of performance and efficiency, Lexair is actively working on product weight reductions—a key benefit to naval platforms where every pound counts.
- Refining Casting Processes: Through innovation in casting design and process control, Lexair is decreasing material usage, minimizing machining time, and ensuring faster, more efficient part production.
- Strategic Investments in Equipment and Talent: Perhaps most impressive is Lexair’s significant capital investment in state-of-the-art equipment and a growing, skilled workforce. These moves are driving higher shop throughput, while simultaneously enhancing product quality, reliability, and longevity.
- Development of Small Mil-Spec Qualified Gears: Lexair has also developed a small, military-specification qualified gear assembly, adding to their depth as a capable and flexible defense partner.
The result of these initiatives? A best-in-class manufacturer that is not only preserving but advancing the quality and legacy of vital Navy components. Lexair’s forward-thinking approach is a testament to their leadership, vision, and commitment to excellence in service to the U.S. Navy.
JA Moody is proud to partner with a company that’s not just meeting expectations—but exceeding them. For product information or a quote, please contact sales@jamoody.com.

Combatting Obsolescence in the Navy: We Have a Proven Solution
Obsolescence continues to present challenges for the Navy. Together with our manufacturing partner, Lexair Inc., we offer a proven solution to help address this issue.
Lexair Inc. is a Level 1 qualified OEM and the manufacturer of the Lexair Navy Valve (LNV)—formerly known as the K-Lok—as well as mil-spec aluminum and stainless-steel vent valves for the Navy. These products are exclusively distributed by JA Moody.
We’re actively seeking opportunities to support additional projects, especially those involving the manufacture of obsolete parts, valves, stems, and more. In fact, we’ve recently partnered with a major U.S. shipbuilder constructing submarines to deliver critical, obsolete components—from design to delivery—in just 14 weeks.
If you’re facing challenges with obsolete components, let us help.
Contact us today or complete this questionnaire and send it to us to get started.

Intelligent Ships Symposium (ISS) 2025
Intelligent Ships Symposium is coming up quickly! JA Moody will have a table, and we would love to talk to you! Stop by and be sure to visit with Doug Horne (Navy Program Manager) and Dave Finn (Business Development & Strategic Partnerships). We will have product displays as well as the DDV valve (the DDV—Dilating Disk Valve—designed and manufactured in accordance with MIL-DTL32632, incorporates a unique, cutting-edge design which reduces the overall size, weight, noise, and energy usage when compared to a traditional globe or control valve).

Highlighting Savannah Trubisz!
